Jennifer Ahrens | Principal Architect
Working at Bero since 1996, with some years off to move west with her family, Jennifer is proud to be the firm's principal and continue our legacy of quality architectural services.
Jennifer is experienced in all aspects of rehabilitation and preservation projects from design through construction administration. She is drawn to preservation of the built and natural environment, and uses her skills to explore how buildings and their landscapes create a spirit of place that defines and sustains a community. She firmly subscribes to the idea that the "greenest building is the one that is already built," and enjoys the challenge of thoroughly understanding the technical aspects of how buildings are constructed.
She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University in 1994, obtained her architectural licensure in 1997, and was certified as a LEED Green Associate in 2010. She serves as an advisor to the Thousand Island Park Preservation Board and as a member of the Town of Irondequoit Preservation Commission.
Jennifer lives in Irondequoit with her husband and four teenagers. She spends her free time reading, weeding her vegetable garden, or hiking in Durand Eastman Park with her active dog.
