Jennifer Ahrens | Principal Architect
Working at Bero since 1996, with some time off to move west with her family, Jennifer is proud to have led our team since 2017, continuing the firm's legacy of historic preservation excellence.
Jennifer is experienced in all aspects of rehabilitation and preservation projects from design through construction administration. She is drawn to preservation of the built and natural environment, and uses her skills to explore how buildings and their landscapes create a spirit of place that defines and sustains a community. She finds particular pleasure in working with clients on developing solutions that work for their historic buildings yet provide for ongoing use of the building to meet current needs and programming. She extends her creative approach to problem solving into construction, finding the challenge of working through technical constructibility issues particularly satisfying.
She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University and has been licensed for nearly 30 years. She has served on local design review boards in the communities where she lived (Sumner, WA and Brighton, NY), and now serves as an advisor to the Thousand Island Park Preservation Board and is a member of the Town of Irondequoit Preservation Commission.
Jennifer lives in Irondequoit with her husband and enjoys when her nearly flown four young adult children come for visits. She spends her free time reading and hiking/skiing in Durand Eastman Park with her active, yet senior dog.
