300 Alexander Apartments

Rochester, New York

Bero Architecture worked with Mark IV Enterprises to successfully apply for Historic Tax Credits and provided design development, construction documents, and limited construction administration services for the major rehabilitation of the historic Alvah Strong Hall, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The building was made fully accessible with the former interior layout of dormitories completely re-imagined as luxury apartments. Character defining details, features, and significant public areas were sensitively rehabilitated. Historic sash were repaired, painted, and interior storms installed. The large central terrace within the courtyard was stabilized and rebuilt. Significant site improvements were made, including a decorative fence and piers similar to those present on the property in the early twentieth century
